Lost Coast Trail

September 5-8, 2017

The Lost Coast Trail, a 25 mile stretch of untouched California coastline. It is absolutely breathtaking. I was fortunate enough to do this trip with my mom and we spent 4 days and 3 nights hiking through sand dunes to coastal prairies, navigating slippery rocks and boulders, trudging through black sands and studying our tide tables, all while listening to the continuous soothing sounds of the waves. We saw sea lions, seals, numerous birds, a rattlesnake (that I thankfully did not crush with my trekking pole), jack rabbits, skunks, river otters, deer, lizards and bear tracks...but thankfully no bears.
